Silent Legions: 1d12 Cults

d12What is this cult like/about?
1
They are a seemingly benign religious community (of whatever faith) and in a way, they are good people. They don't randomly kill or commit atrocities and are pillars of the community. It's just that the end times are coming and, soon, they will have to act...
2
They are local self-modification artists and enthusiast who have gone into some really deep pit of self-mutilation and blood magic. Soon their flesh will be truly altered and remade in the image of the gods.
3The cult exist within an insular local ethnic population. Because they are wary of outsiders, they are easily guilt-tripped by the cult to help them hide their existence from bigots, both real and imaginary. The cult doesn't help their image and reinforce any fear or mistrust people have toward that group. This create a vicious cycle.
4
The 'cult' are actually children who have found some eldritch artifact or tome and are toying with forces they don't understand in secret, away from their parents. They see it as a game but haven't realized some eldritch force has now taken over one of them and is manipulating them to unleash havoc.
5The 'cult' is a single individual and his or her unsuspecting minions. The individual has a lot of pull in some shape or form and lead others to perform tasks which further the cult leader's sorcerous purposes.
6
There is no cult. It's members are inhabited by spirits who control them in their sleep and use them to build a portal of some kind to bring in more. The individuals have little to no recollection of their secret lives and if they do they are too terrified to go tell someone else.
7The cult is in fact fighting eldritch entities threatening the region in some form but, in order to do so, have themselves turned to the worship of some other eldritch force.
8
As above, but that's a lie their leader has fed them. The two eldritch forces are the same thing playing both sides to sow chaos.
9
The cult is centered on some local animal shelter or hospital, tainted by a thing someone brought in which they thought was a wounded animal. It is a multi-dimensional psychic parasite which lives in the flesh of some mundane animal, like a cat or a dog.
10
The cult initially appears as some kind of over-the-top caricature of fundamentalist Christian. In truth, they are not the 'real' cult (well they are a cult, just not an eldritch-worshiping one): they've gone zealous because of the creeping influence of a much more terrifying cult which has corrupted the community.
11
The cult is centered around a local celebrity (some writer, some artist or something like that) who is only vaguely famous. He is, however, the most famous individual the village has ever produced.
12They're local farmers or ex-industry workers trying to revitalize their fading town in the middle of nowhere, where all the jobs have gone elsewhere. They use spells to subtly control the population and make them want to stay in the village and serve it's growth. Slowly, it's becoming a hive mind. Even the buildings and the cows. ESPECIALLY the buildings and cows.
