Not The Intended Use: Wix Logo Maker for modern/cyberpunk games?

Ever come across something and end up using it for tabletop because its such a fitting tool? Now I am not sponsored by Wix or anything, this blog is too small for a sponsor and beside that its not YouTube. However here is what happened: the adblock bugged and I got an ad, which was Wix talking about their new logo maker for a company, using algorithm to help generate a logo. Now all this seem a bit soulless right? By the numbers, maybe? While the whole thing is paid, you can download a 'free sample' which should be enough for a Game Master to show to the players.

Well it turns out this is perfect if you want to add a fictional company in a modern or cyberpunk page. Here are some I generated for fun, using resources such as Corporation Generator from Seventh Sanctum and the Corporation Name Generator from the donjon.bin website.

Tellus: Quick Ulma Names

Given they are, well, humans it is no surprise that Ulma names are rather normal. This is a fairly quick and simple post to generate some Ulma names should a player need some simple inspiration. Obviously there is a bit more variety in-universe but this should apply for most Ulma.

If a player (or, you know, me the GM I guess...) is in need of additional names, especially those beyond the simple list there is a quick table to generate an origin for a name and then go on Behind The Name (and its Surname version) and grab one from the list or a variant of it. That should give some basic ideas.

Tellus: Sky-Folks and Dragon Clans Names

Unlike the long Gigas post from the end of last year there is less of a need to flesh out the Sky-Folks and Dragon Clans: the archetype they represent are fairly simple to grasp while still remaining suitably odd and unique in their own bizarre JRPG-esque way. The niche they embody isn't so strange to players if one understand the ideas and concepts an elf or a dwarf embodies, even if it is the simple and surface level elements.

Sky-Folks name tend to flow or draw their names from things associated with mythology, drawing a connection between them and heavenly forces. Dragon Clans names, meanwhile are often more clipped and aggressive-sounding as well as drawing inspiration from the names of mythological dragons or even demons to evoke a more fearsome feel from them.
