When it come to (my take on) Dynast names, there isn't a hard and fast rule when it come to their names: being descendant of presumably disparate lines from across the Shogunate, married to the Empress and her children and united into the Scarlet Dynasty, it is likely that the Dynasts have quite a bit more variety in their names due to the mixture of cultures from beyond the Blessed Isle and the repeat of said pre-Dynastic names whenever someone felt like naming a child after a famous ancestor. Add in a possible fascination with (censored, mind you) First Age texts and other esoteric matters and it is likely their names are drawn from unique sources. Perhaps the alternate spellings are closer to the original non-Modern Realm spelling? Or it could be the other way around. Who knows?
The choice of 'sounds' in the various names were inspired by the various Dynast names found throughout the lore. In addition, words which end in a consonant can get one more variety by adding a vowel to it, such as -a or -u for example.
