| d12 | What the hell is that? |
Short, squat with a shell-like body. It wiggles and groan in confusion as it tries to eat not you but a random item you're carrying. It is extremely hard to kill, nearly impervious to weapons but is more of an annoyance than a direct threat to your life.
The so-called sage bird. It looks like a colorful, dopey-looking bird. It is immortal and will stare forever in the distance, it's head filled with alien thoughts. Caring for the lazy bastard may very well give you a superior familiar.
A rolling ball of blubber which makes howling noises. It wouldn't be a threat, but something suitably savage (orc, barbarian, bandits...) have started throwing them at you party and in confusion these critters start biting and defecating.
You woke up next to a giant furry caterpillar. It seems to have taken a liking to your party but it also attract unwanted attention from local predators. Maybe you could just eat it yourself?
This thing looks like a cross between a frog and a baboon and speaks only in terrible poetry. You suspect there is some hidden, arcane meaning behind what it babbles which could speak of treasures and untold power.
The terrible imitator. This shapeshifter has taken the form of a party member...badly. As in it looks like a waxy, translucent malformed copy. It's more pitiful and stupid than threatening.
Metal parasites have started nesting in your armor, chewing on the metal and laying eggs on it. They're pretty hard to kill, given they themselves are made of metal.
You briefly encounter a creature of amazing beauty, like a cross between a butterfly and a tropical bird. It leaves you only able to weep. Unfortunately, that happens to be a curse it accidentally give to people.
Oversized, with the face of a bulldog, the legs of a hippo and a scaly body. It looks horrible, smell horrible but all it does is want to lick you for some reason. It keeps other monsters away but the drool is getting a bit annoying.
The so-called historian crab. This sentient (ish?) crab engrave stories on it's shell and rocks alike. Perhaps there is something to be gleaned from it's writings?
You thought those were gold coins, but it turns out they're the chrysalis of some kind of creature and now you got ethereal light-moth-things confusingly fluttering about in your purse. They might soon set it on fire.
There is no monster. That's what you keep telling yourself for...some reason.
